Kforce Network Fiber Technician in Miami Beach, Florida

Kforce has a client in search of a Network Fiber Technician in Miami Beach, Florida (FL).Summary:The Network Fiber Technician position will splice fiber optic cables in the air, underground, and indoors. The position will need to have attention to detail in regard to setting up splice locations, termination points, and general fiber optic construction. The work is typically performed outdoors, but indoor work may also be required.Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform fusing splicing of fiber optic cables in a production networking environment for small, to large projects

  • Respond to fiber restoration network outages and properly repair faults to restore service

  • Performs tests on the OSP fiber optic network to troubleshoot faults and make the necessary repairs on the OSP facilities once the problem is identified and assures the network is functioning properly

  • Install and terminate fiber optic cables in Fiber Distribution Panels

  • Installs passive filter devices within fiber optic splice enclosures

  • Coordinate vendor and contractor maintenance activities and ensure product/services are meeting prescribed standards and expectations

  • Facilitate the execution of work orders and trouble tickets as provided by the NOC; Ensure proper resolution and closure of the work orders

  • Keep documentation on site spares inventory parts, and supplies to ensure continuous operations of the network

  • Complete necessary reports including but not limited to splice inspection reports, operation reports, maintenance reports, and safety hazard reports

  • Attend safety meetings and OSHA compliance training

  • Ensure 365X24X7 operational support is provided

  • Must understand and adhere to company driver safety policy

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required


  • Most of the routine work will take place at night between the hours of 11pm - 7am five days a week

  • Subject to on-call duties

  • Weekends and holiday work may also be required

  • High School diploma or GED / equivalent required

  • Two-year technical degree preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in the Telecom industry in the splicing, installation, maintenance, and repair of network and/or; outside plant experience plus a minimum of two years of field experience required

  • Ability to learn the latest fiber splicing and testing equipment, and be able to train as required on new equipment and adapt to new processes
