POSITION: Concessions Cook (part-time)

DEPARTMENT: Concessions

REPORTS TO: Concessions Manager and Concessions Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: hourly/non-exempt

Summary

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Concessions Cook (part-time) for SAVOR. Prepare menu items as ordered by the guest through the point of sale system. Regular attendance in conformance with the policies established by SMG is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares hot and cold food to order as per standardized recipes
  • Provides highest quality service to guests and co-workers at all times
  • Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense
  • Washes, peels, slices and mixes ingredients for salads, cold plates and garnishes
  • Carves and slices meats and cheese
  • Portions and arranges food on serving dishes
  • Store and properly handle raw and cooked foods and non-food supplies
  • Follows temperature danger zone guidelines to ensure food safety
  • Wears latex gloves at all times when handling ready to eat food
  • Maintains a sanitizer bucket at proper dilution at all times
  • Ensures all products are properly wrapped, labeled and dated
  • Ensures all food items are properly stored, e.g., raw below cooked, poultry always on bottom shelf, etc.
  • Practices FIFO, (First in, first out), for all products to ensure proper rotation
  • Fulfilling the service per each Banquet Event Orders (BEO)
  • Must be creative in designing buffet food presentations
  • Operate equipment, (knives, grill, flat top, fryer, etc.), according to use and safety instructions
  • Follows property recycling guidelines
  • Keeps work area clean, organized and sanitary
  • Cleans and organizes work station at end of shift to ensure safety guidelines are maintained and the stand is ready for the next shift
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • One year certificate from culinary school or comparable experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Must have current food handler's certification
  • Must maintain a professional and helpful attitude at all times
  • 1 year certificate from culinary school or comparable experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must have good eye-hand coordination to work with knives and hot cooking equipment
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene
  • Ability to read and interpret recipes and prep list
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Other Qualifications

  • Must have attention to details
  • Must be able to adapt to change in the work environment, managing, competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • Must be compliant with health Codes
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • May be required to work outside with adverse weather conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

  • Position requires walking and standing regularly
  • Daily lifting and carrying up to 20-50 lbs up to 10 minutes at a time
  • Constant reaching, standing, walking and stooping
  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Irregular hours dictated by events
  • Must be able to balance and have good manual dexterity
