WSP USA is seeking a highly motivated Supervising Construction Engineer / Project Manager to support our thriving Transportation and Infrastructure sector in Florida . This position will be based in Ft. Lauderdale / South Florida and will focus in FDOT District 4 and District 6.

The Supervising Construction Engineer provides technical leadership for complex construction management projects or programs, serving as a Project Manager supervising construction engineering and inspection activities. This position must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently making decisions on significant construction engineering problems

Responsibilities include:

  • Directs a highly-complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program

  • Recognizes construction problems and applies standard techniques and procedures to solve the problem

  • Develops and reviews policies, methods, practices, and procedures

  • Reviews programs for conformance with Departmental standards

  • May recommend field changes to drawings and specifications

  • May supervise field inspection staff, directing and assigning specific tasks

  • Reviews and approves daily inspection reports and project documentation

  • Maintains daily contact with client and contractors to discuss construction activities

  • Attends construction meetings with client and contractors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a directly-relevant field (e.g. Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, etc.)

  • 10+ years of progressively-responsible experience relevant to this role in transportation infrastructure construction

  • Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Florida

  • Strong working knowledge of FDOT policies and procedures relative to design and construction management projects.

  • Working knowledge of applicable standards, specifications and materials

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline

  • Advanced FDOT MOT
