Chrysalis Health Broward Administrative Office Outpatient Therapist - Southeast Broward in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The Outpatient Therapist is responsible for performing a wide variety of therapeutic activities as directed by the Program Director. The Outpatient Therapist will be responsible for providing mental health and substance abuse counseling to children, adolescents, adults and/or families. Some of the services that the therapist will be responsible for performing include, but are not limited to individual, family and group therapy, therapeutic behavioral on-site services, psychosocial assessments, psychological testing and any other document or service which is deemed necessary or is required by Chrysalis Health policy. This individual collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to formulate the individualized treatment plan, to review the treatment plan, and assists in coordinating discharge planning. This position has the responsibility of providing individual and family services in the community – schools and homes. The Outpatient Therapist must be computer literate and have proficiency with the internet, online applications, and email. Strong written communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

The following are duties, responsibilities and leadership roles that the Outpatient Therapist shall provide for the organization:

  • Provides mental health and substance abuse services according to discipline standards and in accordance to policies and procedures.

  • Completes required clinical paperwork thoroughly and within specified timeframe

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Medicaid manual and all updated revisions.

  • Maintains ongoing chart audits to ensure compliance and quality assurance of services provided.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of DSM-IV and DSM-5.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing community resources as supportive services and discharge planning.

  • Serves as a liaison for the client, family, referral source and other social service agencies.

  • Ability to report to work as scheduled, in a timely fashion and will an attitude oriented toward service.

  • Ability to understand and comply with all Chrysalis Health policies and procedures.

  • Presents in a professional manner in the community, in person, on telephone and in written communication including times of extreme stress and when others are upset.

  • Works effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals experiencing an exacerbation of either psychiatric, substance use and/or medical symptoms, as well as experiencing a stressful situation.

  • Works cooperatively in the work environment and takes direction from management with dignity, respect and in a productive, professional manner.

  • Must maintain training requirements of 40 hours annually.

  • Must successfully complete all criminal background checks annually.

  • Must provide documentation of a valid Florida driver’s license and proof of insurance which must be maintained throughout tenure in the amount of at least $50,000/$100,000/$50,000 for liability limits.

  • Must maintain a safe driving record with no more than 6 points on motor vehicle report (MVR)

  • Must be able to use utilize Clinical and HRIS management systems for payroll and evaluations.

  • Carries out special assignments as directed at time of a hurricane or other disaster.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or related field and a minimum of 1-year experience providing substance abuse and/or mental health counseling in an outpatient and in-home setting.

  • Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of the discipline.

  • Licensed preferred.

  • Bilingual a plus.
